If your child’s setting/school have set up Tapestry Pay on their account then you may be presented with the option to make payments for your child’s invoices directly through Tapestry. If you cannot see this option then please contact the setting directly.
In this tutorial we’ll take a look at how you can make payments when using the Tapestry app. If you need to download the app first then you can find our app listing here, or if you’re using the browser then please take a look at this tutorial instead.
When you receive your invoice though the app internal notification you can click on this to take you to the child’s invoices page. Alternatively, click on the three lines in the top left, and then select Invoices from the menu.
Here you will find all of the children that you’re linked to on your account. You can click on the child’s name to view their invoices and payments. Click on Pay Now from either page to make a payment for that child.
A pop-up box will appear where you can enter the amount to pay. This will default to the total outstanding balance, but you can amend the amount you wish to pay from the amount field. Then click Confirm.
You will then be displayed with all of the different payment options. If they have been enabled by your child’s setting, then you can pay by:
- Google Pay (if accessing Tapestry from a supported device)
- Apple Pay (if accessing Tapestry from a supported device)
- Tax-Free Childcare
- Card (credit or debit)
- Bank Transfer
Simply select the payment method of your choosing and follow the steps. Only Tax-Free Childcare (TFC) will let you amend the transaction amount; all other payment methods will be for the full amount that you want to pay (in this case £500).
TFC will need to be set up the first time you use it, which can be done by selecting Tax-Free Childcare and then Connect now. You will then be taken to HMRC’s portal and need to follow their steps.
After connecting your HMRC TFC account, you can add your child or children relating to that account by entering their reference code and date of birth, then clicking Add child.
Once that’s done you will see your child or children with TFC and their HMRC balance.
If you want to pay via TFC then you will need to select the child whose TFC account you want to pay from, and then enter the amount to pay. It will default to the full transaction value (in this example £500) or their available balance if less, but you can amend this from the Payment amount box (left as £80, in this example). Click on Pay £x with TFC.
Once that’s processed you can see it will show as paid. If you’ve got a remaining transaction value to pay, or you are paying via a different means in the first instance, then simply select the next payment method and follow the steps. All other payment methods will be for the full remaining transaction value.
Once the full payment amount has been paid you will see a confirmation box with details of your payment. You will also receive an email receipt.
And that’s it! Back on the child’s account balance page you will see that their balance has updated and your payments appear.
