Capture and celebrate the magic of a child's experiences, learning and development
Building relationships
Staff, family members, and children can create observations and share them with each other. They can be used as a record of each child’s learning and development, provide educators with valuable insight into a child’s home life, and make a wonderful keepsake of a child’s early education.
The importance of parental engagement
Jamel C Campbell shares his thoughts on how to support and reassure parents.
“Parents and carers need to feel comfortable, confident and connected with the setting, which needs to start from the induction day/ settling in period.”
Plenty to share
Observations can include notes, videos, audio clips, pictures, documents, clickable links, and assessments in any of our learning frameworks (but you don’t have to add these things all at once!).
Are observations still important in the Early Years?
The EYFS reforms 2021 brought an important shift away from collecting lots of evidence about every child. But what do the new EYFS and Ofsted say about observations?
It's all about flexibility

Choose how you publish
Post observations immediately or after approval, schedule them to go live at a later date, or simply save them in draft form to be finished later.

Show learning done together
Attach multiple children to the same observation to celebrate group activities and learning, and share with multiple families.

Tailor your posts to each child
If you want to add anything unique to a certain child e.g. a picture, assessment, or flag, you can ‘split’ group observations so that each child gets their custom copy.
