Welcome to Tapestry!
Tapestry is the original and leading Childhood Education Platform for nurseries, childminders and schools.
Every day, around 14,500 education settings use our software to nurture partnerships with families, support children’s learning and development, and manage occupancy, attendance and finances.
If you’ve found yourself here, then we’re guessing it’s probably for one of the following reasons:
- Your setting or school has told you that you’ll be using Tapestry to see what your child is up to when they’re not at home with you.
- Your child’s nursery, childminder, preschool or school doesn’t have a digital way of communicating with you throughout the day, and you’d like to change that.
- You’re using or about to use Tapestry as a parent or carer and have a question.
Whatever the reasons, welcome! We are delighted to meet you.

In addition to helping you navigate Tapestry, we’ve also developed guides to help parents understand some of the frameworks their child’s school or setting may be using.

Bring your child's journal to life
We’ve teamed up with publisher Group Hugs to transform children’s PDF journals into beautifully printed books.
Once the school or setting has exported a copy of your child’s learning journal, you can upload it to the Group Hugs website to order a printed copy!
Relatives’ tutorial support
As well as our downloadable guides, we also have a range of tutorials available that will walk you through how to use the different features of Tapestry.
The features available to you will depend on what your child’s school or setting has chosen to enable.

FAQs
How can I get started with Tapestry?
Your setting or school must first create a profile for you. Once this has been done, you will receive an activation email at the address you provided. Please check your spam or junk mail folder as we sometimes end up there!
Through this activation email you will create a password and PIN (the PIN can be used to log in to the Tapestry app).
You can access Tapestry from www.tapestryjournal.com or by downloading the Tapestry app.
If you haven’t received an activation email, please speak to your setting or school directly. They’re the only ones that can give you access to your account and your child’s profile.
What does Tapestry do with the data added to accounts?
Only what the schools, nurseries, and childminders who buy the Tapestry packages tell it to!
They decide what the data is used for, who gets access to it, and when it is deleted.
The data is not sold or shared with companies other than the sub-processors used to help provide the Tapestry system.
Data added to Tapestry accounts is stored on servers based in the UK and the EU. It is supported by staff who are all based in the UK.
To find out more, take a look at the Tapestry contract – particularly pages 11-21.
How is the data added to Tapestry accounts kept secure?
Data security is Tapestry’s highest priority and we do everything we can to ensure data is secure. This includes encrypting the data, partitioning the network, performing annual penetration tests, and running DBS checks on all employees.
Tapestry also encourages the schools, nurseries, and childminders who take out the subscriptions to keep everything as secure as possible. That includes strong passwords and different status levels of users to ensure that only the right people can access the right data.
To find out more, take a look at our contract – particularly pages 22-37.
Will other parents see pictures of my child?
This is entirely up to you. If you don’t feel comfortable with other parents seeing pictures of your child, let your child’s school/setting know and they can take steps to ensure your child doesn’t appear in photos that other relatives can access.
Can I contribute to my child's journal?
Absolutely!
You can upload your own observations to share with the setting or school the learning that has been happening at home (or anywhere else!).
You can also comment on the observations uploaded by the setting/school, and “like” these too.
If given permission, you’ll also be able to fill in your child’s About Me page, which will help the staff get to know your child before they join the setting or school.
How can I download a copy of my child's journal?
Your setting or school can export a PDF copy of your child’s journal for you. If they are not sure how to go about this, this tutorial will show them how.
You can also export a copy yourself whenever you want to – ‘How to export my child’s journal to PDF‘.
My child's journal download has expired, how can I get a new copy?
It depends on when your child was deleted from the account.
All deleted profiles are recoverable for 90 days. If your child’s profile was deleted fewer than 90 days ago, the setting/school will be able to restore their profile and create a new PDF copy of their journal for you.
After this time, they are fully deleted from the account and moved to our backups for another 90 days.
We can restore profiles from our backups, but that request must come from the setting/school and there is a charge of £36 inc. VAT for this. The setting/school might choose to pass this charge on to you.
Can I see all my children's journals in the same account?
Each Tapestry account has its own database for security reasons.
If your children are all set up in the same Tapestry account, then you’ll be able to see their journals from a singular login.
However, if your children attend different settings/schools, or have been set up in different accounts, then you’ll need to have a separate login for each account and access them separately.
You can use the same email address and password for all your profiles, though, so you can simply choose which account to view once you’ve logged in.
Why can I still see my old nursery/childminder/school?
This means that the setting/school hasn’t deleted your profile with them. Please get in touch with them directly, and ask them to delete your profile.
Why can't I log in to Tapestry?
There are a few reasons you cannot log in to Tapestry. This Tapestry Login Troubleshooting flow chart will help you figure out what the issue might be and how to resolve it.
Can I add another relative to Tapestry so they can see my child's journal?
Whilst you are not able to add other people to Tapestry, the setting/school can create as many relative profiles as they want to and link these to your child.
You’ll need to speak to them about this.
Who do I go to if I have a problem with Tapestry?
It is important to understand that we are just the data processors. All data is controlled by and belongs to the setting/school.
You’ll need to contact the setting/school directly if you have any queries or problems related to Tapestry or its stored data. We cannot look into specific information for you or carry out actions on your behalf.
