This tutorial will show you the features of the About Me section on Tapestry.

One of the advantages of the About Me page is that it can be filled in for children that are currently enrolling. This means that when you first add children that you don’t want to activate quite yet in preparation for the new academic year, if permitted, their relatives will be able to start filling in the About Me page.

This will give relatives some time to familiarise with Tapestry before their children start with you, and will also give you the chance to start getting to know the children a bit better before they join you at your setting.

Viewing and editing a child's About Me

To find a child’s About Me page click on the Children tab at the left of the screen and click on the child’s name you want to see/edit the About Me for. From the drop-down list, select About Me.

Please note that the Children page will will only show you your active children. So if you’d like to find the About Me section for enrolling children you will need to use the Filter & Sort Children button, and then filter the status by Enrolling and Apply the specifications.

On the child’s About Me page you’ll have some options at the top. You will be able to Edit, View History, and Export a PDF copy of their About Me.

Selecting to edit a child’s About Me will allow you to choose which questions are relevant to this child. If you don’t want to include them, simply remove the tick from the check box on the same line. If you want to be the one to answer a question then you can do so by typing in the text box.

Please remember to scroll to the bottom and press Save when you’re done. There is also a link  to the About Me Settings page.

Setting Permissions for Relatives

At the bottom of a child’s About Me page you can also see the current relative permissions; whether they can view or edit the About Me. Click on Change Permissions if you’d like to amend either permission.

To make any changes just tick or untick the relevant permission. Once you’re happy with the changes press Update Permissions.

Please read on if you would like to update all children’s permissions at once.

Customising About Me

Only users registered on Tapestry as Managers can make changes to the About Me feature.

If you want to add your own statements/questions, or make it so all children have the same available questions or level of relative access, you need to go to the Tapestry Configuration Menu from the left >  Features > About Me Settings

If you don’t want any of the default questions on Tapestry to show, you just need to un-tick them.

If you’d like to add your own questions, scroll to the bottom and select Add Field. That will make a pop up box appear, and you can write your new question there. You can edit existing questions by selecting the pencil icon next to the question.

When everything is finished click on Save to ensure your changes are saved.

At the bottom of the page you’ll find a section for Relative Permissions. Here you can update parental access and edit permissions for all children at once, instead of doing this individually on each child’s About Me page. You can edit permissions by ticking the boxes, and if you make any changes click Update Permissions.

You can select View History to see a log of changes that have been made to the permissions.

And that’s it! Use the buttons below to explore tutorials about adding children and linking them to relatives.
