In this tutorial we’re going to explain how to create custom report templates on Tapestry. This will include creating a new one from scratch, saving and managing them as drafts, and duplicating the templates you have created.
Use the tabs above to naviagte through this guide.
Only “managers” on Tapestry can create custom report templates.
To start creating a new template, go to the Reports feature by clicking Planning & Monitoring > Reports.
From here, click the “Manage Custom Templates” button.
Then click “Add a Custom Template”.
This will bring up the blank template on which you can start building your custom report. First, give your report a title and then click “Add Section”.
From here you can select from the pre-built sections or add a “Custom Section”. Just select one you want to add and click “Add Section”
Once you’ve added all the sections you want included in your report and put them in the correct order (using the up and down arrows on each section), you can then choose to either Save Template as a Draft or Save and Activate Template.
Choose the former if you want to come back later and continue editting this temaplate.
Choose the latter is you’re ready to start creating and publishing reports with this template.
Depending on which option you chose, you’ll either see your new template within the “Draft Custom Templates” section or the “Active Custom Templates” when you’re taken back to the Custom Reports page. Active templates can be used when creating a report.
If you were creating a template earlier and saved it as a draft, you will find it with the “Draft Custom Templates” section of the Custom Reports page.
You have three options for draft templates:
1: Edit – continue adding / changing / reordering the sections on your template.
2: Make Active – move the template from drafts to active templates in order to start creating and publishing reports using this template.
3: Delete – remove the draft and delete the template permanently.
Please note, if you choose to delete a template it cannot be restored.
Please note, if you choose to make a draft template active you can not turn it back into a draft or edit it any further.
You can duplicate any of your active report templates at any time. This creates an identical version of the template but as draft, meaning you can edit it.
Please note, any changes to this duplicate draft version will have no effect on any existing reports you have made using the active template.
To duplicate an active template, navigate to the Custom Reports page by clicking Planning & Monitoring > Reports > Manage Custom Templates.
Then click Duplicate to Draft next to the title of the report you want to duplicate.
You can then choose to edit, activate, or delete this report template copy.
