In many cases, settings include relatives when transferring children’s profiles to another setting. If a transfer you receive includes relatives, they will appear in your account with a Not Activated status. This means they won’t be able to log in until their account is activated.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you two ways to activate relatives following a child transfer: either from Transfer Children or from Manage Relatives.

For information on the child transfer process please take a look at this tutorial here

Only Managers can manage received relatives via the browser version of Tapestry as this requires access to the Configuration menu.

If any of the relatives have unsubscribed from Tapestry or you have already added them to your account (which generates a duplicate) then these will be flagged up along the way and will need fixing. You can learn how to deal with the resubscribing process here, and you can check how to fix duplicates here

Managing received relatives from 'Transfer Children'

Once the transfer has been completed, if any relatives were transferred and claimed by your setting, you’ll need to open the relevant transfer. To do this, navigate to Configuration > Children > Transfer Children. Then select the appropriate transfer from the Previous Transfers section.

Click into the transfer. You will see the following message. Click Manage Received Relatives to continue.

You will now see the transferred relatives and can choose how to activate these accounts. We recommend selecting Activate By Email, as the system will automatically send the activation email to each relative. Remember to let your relatives know and ask them to check their inbox and spam or junk mail folder.

If you choose to Generate Activation Links or Generate Random Passwords and PINs you will need to save a copy of these, as once as you have moved on from this page you will not be able to get them back.

Now, let’s move on to the second way to activate relatives following a child transfer.

Managing received relatives from 'Manage Relatives'

To find the profile you need to retry the activation for, first of all you will have to go to Configuration > Relatives > Manage Relatives.

On this page, click Not Activated, then search for the relative you wish to activate.

Once you have found the relative you want to send a new activation email to, click the cog next to their profile and select Activate.

Next, click Send Email. Ask the relatives to check their inbox and spam folder for the activation email.

Sending Activation Emails to Multiple Profiles

You can also Retry Activation for multiple relatives at once. Select the required profiles, then choose Retry Activation from the drop-down menu that appears at the bottom of the screen. Finally, click Go to resend the activation emails.

You will then be taken to a screen where you can choose whether to Send Email or Do Nothing. Leave the default Send Email option selected and click Send Activation Emails. The activation emails will be sent to the selected relatives. Ask them to check their inbox and spam or junk mail folder.

That’s it! You can now use either of these methods to activate relatives who have been transferred alongside their children.
