In this tutorial we’ll take a look at how you can set up the Reflections feature on Tapestry.
Reflections provide a space for educators to share and discuss thoughts, experiences, and actions; recording the journey you are taking within your setting. You can make notes, link reflections and observations together and organise your reflections with Flags. You can read more about the different ways Reflections can be used in our support guide here.
The Reflections feature is available on the browser version of Tapestry only. A manager staff user will need to complete the set up.
The Reflections feature is staff only. Relatives will never be able to access or see Reflections from their own account, even if their child is attached to the reflection.
Enabling Reflections
To enable Reflections, a Manager on the account will need to navigate to Configuration > Features.
Then scroll down until you see the Reflections feature and click on Enable.
Once you’ve enabled the Reflections feature on your account, this can be accessed via Planning & Monitoring > Reflections.
Choosing permissions
After enabling Reflections, you may want to consider what you’d like staff to be able to see and do with this feature. You can do this by selecting Staff Permissions.
Once here, you’ll see a list of permissions that you can set to Permitted or Not Permitted. To change these according to your preferences, you just need to click Edit next to the permission you’d like to alter and then select the relevant option. You are also able to set different permissions for specific users here.
Enabling flag sets
It’s possible to enable flags for use within reflections, as well as observations. Flags can help organise your reflections; allowing you to search for your reflections by flag type, identify common themes, or collect evidence for a project, research, or an inspection.
To do this, go to Configuration > Flags.
It’s possible to enable Reflections for every type of flag: Bespoke, EYSF, Description, and Australia. Locate the flag set that you require and click on Configure.
Under the ‘Reflections’ section make sure Enabled is ticked, and be sure to press Save to save your changes.
And that’s it! You can now set up Reflections and configure the related staff permissions and flag sets. Next, you may want to check out the following related tutorials:
