Splitting a group observation on Tapestry allows you to remove individual children, or split the whole observation, creating individual observations for each child selected to be removed from the original observation.
Doing so will duplicate all the content of the original observation (notes, photos/videos and any assessments or flags).
This allows you to then make edits to the individual observations for the removed children that won’t apply to the other children.
Selecting your observation
To split a group observation, you’ll need to navigate to the Observations page from the left-hand menu.
Here, find the observation you want to split and click on the three dot icon at the end of the row of the observation.
From the menu, select Split group observation.
Split options
You will then see a pop-up menu appear where you have two options as to how you can proceed:
- Split all – this will split the whole observation, leaving one child in the original observation and creating new observations for all the other included children.
- Split ticked – here you will need to select the children you want to remove from the original observation and create new observations for from the tick boxes.
Select either the Split all button, or select individual children to split off and then click Split ticked, to proceed.
The duplicated observation
After doing so, you will then see your duplicated observations for each child you split off in the main observations list.
Please note, any likes or comments will remain on the original observation.
