In this tutorial we’ll take a look at how you, a relative on the account, can get a PDF download of your child’s journal, and how you can purchase a physical book of the journal from the browser version of Tapestry.
Your child’s user photo on Tapestry will be used on the front cover of the physical book (and as shown on the PDF cover page). If no user photo has been added, a tree logo will be used instead.
Only a manager on the account will be able to change your child’s user photo on Tapestry.
The journal export will need to be generated first, which can be done either by you or the setting, and then you can download a copy of the journal export and/or purchase a physical copy. We’ll cover all of the steps in this tutorial.
If you’re using the Tapestry app, please take a look at this tutorial instead.
For information about downloading the media files only please take a look here.
Generating an export
If you already have an export generated for you by your child’s school or setting then you can skip to the next section ‘Downloading the export’. Otherwise, start by clicking on your child’s profile on the left hand menu.
If you have multiple children on the same Tapestry account, instead of seeing ‘[Child’s name] Profile’, you will see Children’s Profiles. You will need to click on this and then select the profile of the child you want to export the journal for.
Once on your child’s profile page, click on Create PDF of [name]’s journal in the Quick Links section.
Before you proceed with the exporting the journal, you’ll just need to check you’re happy with all the options for the PDF.
So scroll through the page and make sure you’re happy with all of the details within the Date Range, Observations, and Cover Page, making changes if preferred. Once you’re done, click on Submit.
Your export will then be underway. Once it’s ready you’ll be able to access or download it from your downloads, which you can access from the View your Downloads button. Alternatively, follow the steps in the next section.
Please note, PDF journals are only available to download for 90 days, after this point they will be deleted and you would need to re-export the journal.
Downloading the export
Once the journal export has been generated either by yourself (following the steps in the previous section) or by your child’s school or setting, you can then download a copy.
To do this, click on Downloads. From here you’ll be able to see all of the available downloads. Find the relevant export and click on Download. It will then be downloaded directly to your device.
Purchasing a printed book
Once the journal export has been generated either by yourself (following the steps in the first section) or by your child’s school or setting, you can then purchase a physical copy of the journal. If you’d like to find out about printed journals please take a look at the info page here.
If you no longer have access to your Tapestry account, but do have a saved copy of the PDF journal then you can purchase a journal book by uploading the PDF directly with the publishers, Group Hugs, here.
To purchase directly from your account, go to Downloads.
On the downloads page you’ll be able to see all of the available downloads. For PDF journals you’ll see the button to Order a printed book; click on this.
Take a careful read through the order page and view the PDF before purchasing. Please take time to read Group Hugs’ privacy policy before proceeding.
Once you’ve completed the necessary steps and are happy to proceed you can click on Order Printed Book.
You’ll then be taken to the Group Hugs website to proceed with your order. For any questions or queries regarding your order please contact customerservice@grouphugs.co.uk.
And that’s it!
