In this guide we’re going to go through how to download your child’s learning journal as a PDF and media as a ZIP file. This is usually done at the end of the school year, or if your child is moving to a new nursery or school.
Whilst you are able to export a copy of your child’s journal to download, you will need to contact the setting (school/nursery/childminder) to request a ZIP file of the media.
Learning journal downloads are available for 90 days after being created, and zip files of photos and videos for 28 days after being created, but we would recommend downloading them as soon as possible.
Please note that PDF and media downloads are NOT available on the app version of Tapestry, and that you may need to download a special app to view PDFs on a mobile or tablet device.
Your Downloads
Once you have logged into the browser version of Tapestry, you’ll be able to access your downloads by clicking Downloads on the left hand panel.
If you have a file available to download, for example a manager from your child’s setting has done this for you, you will find it in here. This is along with important details about the file such as how long you have left to download it.
To download the PDF and/or ZIP file, click Download. To be directed to the Group Hugs website to order a printed book of your child’s journal, click Order a Printed Book.
If you have already downloaded the PDF, then you do not need to go through your Tapestry login to order a printed book. You can go directly to the Group Hugs website and upload the PDF to make your purchase.
Notifications
If you would like to be notified by email when a file is available to download, you just need to ensure your notification preferences are set correctly.
To check and amend your notification preferences, start by clicking your name and then heading to Account Preferences.
Next, within the Notifications section, click Change Notification Preferences.
Scroll to the bottom of this page to find Journal ready to download. Ensure your preference is set to Immediate Email so you can be notified straight away. Don’t forget to click Save.
You do not need this notification email in order to download your child’s journal. Follow the above steps of logging into the browser version of Tapestry and accessing your downloads.
